You can verify it if you want. It acts as extra protection to your account. It does not have anything to do with receiving discount codes or messages though.

When you first created a Gameflip account, it would already prompt you to give your phone number and register it. Any intended messages that is for you will be sent to you.

As @Sparkling_Juice has said, you should have been prompted to enter your phone number when you created the account.

If you are doing this solely for discount codes, Gameflip frequently post on Twitter, and will most likely post their discount codes on Twitter.
