I have 2000 sales in 90 days, 1500 positive ratings, not a single bad one. My sales are down 50%. I dont understand who the current system is helping? Who is being pushed forward by the algorithms? If I have such a rating and sales volume, my service is perfect, then why did I start earning half as much? This is a serious difference in profit. You write that the rating will help, but it is not so. On the first page there are ads from a seller with a rating worse than mine. Despite the fact that he has 50 ratings, and I have 1500. I understand that it is difficult for new sellers to compete with old ones, but I treat sales on your site as a job, my rating should have weight, otherwise it will turn out that I am trying for nothing
Same for me.I have 6k sales in the last 90 days. But after they changed something about the algorithms last week, my sales have gone down. I checked other sellers as well. All the popular sellersâ sales have slowed down a lot. I donât understand why Gameflip management is doing this. They are victimizing the big and loyal sellers to support the new sellers and small sellers. The small and new sellers will probably leave in 1-2 weeks, but the popular sellers see this as a profession and are always loyal to Gameflip. This is really sad.
Youâre talking about the last 90 days, which is the holiday period, and sales during this time are usually the highest, especially if your products are targeted at younger people.
You have to remember that the holiday season for both children and students has ended, which significantly affects sales as well.
The period around October and the holiday season will likely be better because during that time, people tend to buy more items due to events happening in games.
Sales will also depend on how many sellers are currently offering the same products. Itâs logical that if youâre the only seller on the platform offering a product thatâs in demand, your sales will be higher.
You also need to keep in mind that you too started as a new seller once, and perhaps it has now turned into your full-time job.
So, saying that someone will stop selling after just a few days is a bit inappropriate. The fact that someone has sold only 50 items doesnât necessarily mean their service is worse than yours.
They might just be a new person on the platform, who, due to the algorithms and how the platform works, is experiencing difficulties with sales, just like you did. This makes it even harder for them to achieve higher sales.
Favoring any side should not take place because sales should be equal for everyone, giving each party an equal chance to sell their products.
By favoring older and larger sellers, itâs logical that new sellers wonât have much opportunity on the platform, and as you mentioned, after a few weeks of no sales, they will simply give up.
However, it works both ways. If only new sellers were favored, the older ones wouldnât be happy with that either.
Itâs important to realize that everyone selling on the platform is doing so to earn money, regardless of whether theyâve been doing it for years or are just starting. This should have no impact because sales should be equal for all sellers. Especially since for some of them, this might be their only source of income.
With 1k listings per day, you can have 30k of sales in a month . What this limit prevents is sellers try to remove listings and post new ones, hoping to get shown first.
I understand what you mean but unfortunately I donât agree with you. Because I have been with gameflip for almost 6 years. I know what customers buy or can buy in which periods. But I sell for a single game. I sell products in almost 6-7 different games. It is normal for sales to decrease in games that lose their popularity in some periods, but it is strange that sales have almost never come in the last week in games that are still very popular. My store profile rating score for the last 180 days is over 7k+. But I can never see my own products in searches anymore. I respect new sellers but in all in-game sales platforms, sites always show the most successful and popular sellers of the site at the top. New and small sellers always try to gain experience by selling cheaper. Please think as a buyer. You entered a platform and want to buy something and you are in a virtual world. In order to have a smooth experience, you first prefer popular sellers. But if saving is more important to you, you buy the cheaper one. In other words, you prefer small sellers. After receiving great service from a popular and reliable seller, you become loyal to that site and seller. What I mean is that the biggest factor affecting the return to the platforms is the quality of service provided by the sellers. I respect your desire to interpret the changes made in favor of the gameflip management. However, you are only evaluating it from the perspective of small sellers. When you look at it from the perspective of buyers and popular sellers, very different results will emerge. When you do not protect experienced and large sellers as a site, buyers do not return to gameflip after having problems with smaller and inexperienced sellers and go to world-famous platforms such as ebay. You should not forget that Gameflip can make thousands of advertisements to be seen by more buyers. However, keeping a buyer who visits the site on gameflip again depends on the experience of the sellers. For example, even on Ebay, when you search for a product, the âTop Rated Sellerâ and the listings of high-rated sellers always appear at the top. However, if the cheap item is more attractive to the buyer, you will scroll down the page and choose cheaper and smaller sellers. On gameflip itâs very complicated. Even though I have a 7k+ profile rating I never know where my hundreds or thousands of listings are.
The old system was competitive. I have 5 thousand items for sale, my API publishes each item once every 5 days, a newbie with a small number of items will publish the same item at least 5 times. And some publish several times a day. It turns out that the item of a newbie (small seller) will be on more favorable terms. Where am I wrong?
As the saying goes, âOpinions are like buttsâeveryone has one.â And I fully respect that.
It just so happens that Iâm also a bigger seller who has been on this platform practically every day since almost the beginning. Iâve gone through nearly all the changes that have taken place, both the good and the badâand there have been more bad ones.
Iâm also aware that the platformâs attractiveness depends primarily on the services that sellers offer. Thatâs what the platform is built on, just like eBay, for example. If a buyer trusts the seller, they also trust the platform, becoming a repeat customer, which is natural.
Iâm not sure if you understood what I wrote in my first statement about the changes being introduced, because I never said any of these changes would be goodâquite the opposite.
I pointed out that in some cases, these changes would be downright detrimental, giving the example of new sellers, who could almost entirely disappear from the list of offered items.
Then I referred to the introduced changes by mentioning the issue of people continuously removing and re-adding listings, which Iâve long considered one of the worst things on the platform. This practice has been used for months by both new and older sellers, as well as by those with multiple accounts.
Iâve often encountered situations where, despite selling over 1,500 items in a month and having all positive reviews, the recommended offers would feature sellers with only 30 items sold, and there was nothing I could do about it.
However, donât suggest that Iâm in any way defending these changes being made by the platform. Iâm merely giving arguments and examples of how this impacts the platform.
You also shouldnât assume that any seller is worse than you or will provide lower-quality service just because theyâre new to the platform, while youâve been doing this for 6 years and therefore should be favored.
Iâve met sellers who, in just a few days, managed to master the platform and offer services at the same or better level than any other larger seller.
Every major seller can notice when their sales are dropping, as has been the case over the past 10 days.
So hereâs a question, and this is just a reflection, nothing offensive:
Is this happening because the quality of your services has declined?
-Probably not.
Do the recent changes on the platform play a role in this?
-I donât know for sure, but I suspect so.
(For example, the number of identical listings added to the platform in a given timeframe. If you relied heavily on continuously re-adding the same items, as mentioned by DunnBiscuit, time would no longer matter. So if your sales depended on constantly re-adding the same items, after this change, it would no longer have any effect. However, your listings should still rank higher than those of sellers with a lower sale scoreâthis is based on the initial message in this thread.)
So try to answer whether the platformâs changes are having a key impact on the sales of your items and those of other sellers. So in this situation It doesnât matter whether youâre a new or an experienced seller, because as we know, customers who receive good service usually return to the same sellers. Yet, as you mentioned, your sales have dropped, so in this case, the quality of your service didnât matter.
Therefore, any change on the platform has a crucial impact, regardless of whether youâve just started selling or not. Because within just a few weeks, based on these decisions, you could either become a bigger seller like you or the opposite.
And you may have no influence on it.
A lot of words, but the reality is that an experienced seller with thousands of reviews will on average provide better service than a newbie.
You also need to think that large sellers have a business plan for making money, because this is their profession. If there is little money, then you have to spend time on something else, which will also inevitably affect the quality of service. It cannot be any other way, you either give yourself completely to work, or you are torn between two.
I can conclude that for large traders and some buyers, things have gotten worse, and the site now has the same profit. So I donât think my complaint will have any effect.
But I would like to understand the algorithm, who it recommends and why. Transparent conditions are needed.
Itâs obvious that if youâve been a seller for years, your level of experience and customer service will be much higher. However, youâre forgetting one thing, or perhaps youâre not considering it: just because someone is new to the platform doesnât necessarily mean theyâre a novice.
They could just as easily be an experienced professional in their field, dedicating all their time to it, but their journey with this particular platform is only just beginning. In the case of new changes being introduced, this immediately puts them at a disadvantage.
I didnât want to create one position above another; I just wanted to conclude my statement in this thread.
I just expressed my opinion and concern about this what I think about it.
Let me remind you of what I said at the very beginning about what can happen when this phenomenon is implemented:
That is, the number of added listings will be limited, and continuously adding listings will have no impact.
So, I explained how can this will affect sales on the platform.
There will be a dominant seller who, due to their score, will appear above all other sellers regardless of how many listings the others add.
This will essentially create a new tab called âhigh score seller,â just under a different name.
Sellers who were continuously adding their listings or spamming will no longer affect the number of listings on the main page because only a certain number of listings will be considered, regardless of when they were added. This could even be a listing from the previous week.
Moreover, because the score will be based solely on the sell score, the seller with the highest sales score from the last 180 days will always be displayed at the top.
If this seller offers hundreds of different products and uses a dozen or so universal names to boost sales for each product, they will still always be at the top in every one of them.
This will hinder the sales of other sellers because only after all of this sellerâs listings are bypassed will the next seller become visible.
So, if youâre the second-highest seller in terms of score, only then will you have some real chance of making a sale. At the same time, youâll be an obstacle for other sellers because they will have to break through two accounts with 5,000 listed items.
Every subsequent seller will make it even harder for the next.
And at the very bottom will be the sellers I mentioned before, including new ones, whose chance of selling will be practically zero because theyâll have hundreds of other sellers ahead of them. Thatâs the only reason I used new accounts as an example.
This will also create a vicious cycle, ensuring continuous sales for only the seller with the highest score and maybe a few others, ensuring their dominance.
The further down you are in this hierarchy, the worse your sales will get, and sometimes it will be nearly impossible to make a sale.
If sellers with 5,000-6,000+ sales in the last 90 days are having trouble with sales, and they are probably at the top based on score ratio, think about how this will affect the following accounts in terms of sales score. And Iâm not even talking about new accounts here, but even those with sales close to the top sellers.
For each of them, sales will only get worse.
Because the majority of sales will go to the top account with the highest score and 1-2 accounts below them, ensuring their continuous top-selling status, while the remaining accounts will be almost entirely cut off from sales.
Moreover, no one really knows which changes have already been implemented and which are yet to come
However, the changes the platform decides to implement and how they will impact the functioning of the platform depends solely on them.
I just hope that if not everyone, then at least most people will be satisfied with them
And so, another long statement, and probably the last one.
I think I can simply end my response here.
Hello.
I would like to address changes made on this platform, and how they have negatively affected my shop as a top seller (Unbelievable Store).
First: " To address fairness in displaying listings to buyers, Gameflip no longer considers the date/time of the listing creation.". What you stated is inconsistent. The search results are still sorted by date/time but by oldest first. Whenever I search for any Roblox game that Iâm selling, such as âAnime Defendersâ & âBlade Ballâ, I only see very old listings flooding the first page while very few listings of mine show up on almost the 7th page of the search results.
Second - You stated in a comment 10 days ago that my ratings score (positive-negative) will help me bump my listings to the front page. This statement is also inconsistent. Why? To explain, I have 13,000+ sales with 100% (9000) Feedback ratings score in the last 180 days. So, based on your statement, I shouldâve been on the front pages of any search results that include my listings since Iâm the highest-rated seller on Roblox Games on Gameflip.
Third - âThe daily limit is 1000 listings per dayâ. Again, youâre making significant changes without informing any of your sellers ahead of time so they can try to adapt to the change. Instead, you are leaving us in the dark until we start seeing the change and then asking about it.
Fourth - Let me discuss how these changes have impacted my shop. Since your first change which happened about 18 days ago, Iâve been getting about 10 sales per day (if Iâm lucky, usually itâs less than 10 sales now) when I used to get about 3000 sales every month so about 100+ sales a day maxing out all your subscription plans. Right now, I hope you can understand how your changes impacted me as your top Roblox seller and one of your top sellers on Gameflip platform.
I understand youâre trying to give new/small sellers a chance to sell their items, but at the same time, your changes ruined your top sellersâ businesses which are trusted by a lot of your platform buyers. You shouldâve taken into consideration making a vote on the changes you decided to make before applying them to your platform cause Iâm pretty sure most of the sellers nor even the buyers wouldâve agreed to these changes before they were made.
Let me try to reply to your points:
For both one and two, please bear in mind that the changes made arenât final and we are consistently discussing and adjusting things on top of what we find and what you guys share regarding feedback. We are working on top of our search and listing relevancy as we discuss here to continue improving the experience for both old and new sellers.
For number three, as mentioned by R11C in one of the posts, if you are a big seller, you will have the power to sustain over 5k listings on sale and always create new listings whenever you are below this limit. My question here is, do you have more than 5k items to sell at once? Does any other seller have one? If that is the case, a higher listing quantity limit should be considered.
Remember the daily listing creation limit will help more than cause damage, as now we wonât have sellers creating a lot of listings, to then delete and create again, just to be on top of the page.
For number 4, as R11C mentioned, the change mightâve affected your sales. It might, but we also need to consider that the Summer Vacation ended and we are now (and in the past couple of weeks) on what I call âIn-between seasonsâ, where sales will drop, to then increase when the Holidays come.
Regardless of that, as I mentioned in my first paragraph, we are absorbing every piece of feedback you guys share here and on other platforms, and we are constantly discussing them so we can continue to make improvements that are beneficial for the health of the marketplace, for our sellers and our buyers.
âSummer Vacation endedâ - every big seller understands when and how much he will sell. This makes no sense as an argument, because the problems started precisely because of the new site system. Remember, you sell subscriptions, and Iâve used it up every month for years. Now Iâm thinking about signing up for a cheaper plan because there are no sales.
And yes, I can easily add over 5,000 different items.
You also need to add âquantityâ because if I have the same items or game currency, Iâll have to create a dozen almost identical listings. Itâs easier if the buyer goes to one and selects the desired quantity.
If the 5,000 limit was increased, and there was also the ability to specify the number of items in one listing, I would sell more.
You have over 5,000 unique items? Whatâs your store?
Until recently, I see the same listing duplicated from the same seller reposting. Iâd be interested in seeing more listings, even from the same seller. As a buyer, I typically follow sellers who have a variety of items.
I sell pets in roblox. They can have different abilities due to potions, as well as a neon glow. Due to the fact that I have all the pets, and the combinations of potions and neons are different, I have more than 5000 of them. I do not have duplicates, except when I create bundles of several pets. At the same time, I have a choice whether to create such bundles or create listings of not the most popular pets. I could add a lot more transport, as well as items from other games and all sorts of little things.
This new sistem is TERRIBLE
Saying we (big sellers) are not getting the same sales as before because summer is over is CRAZY, i was easy making 100-200$ daily just the day before you ruined everything, now im lucky if i get 50$, and its not cause summer season, its cause touching what it worked now ruined the app!
Now you have people opening the app and seeing THE SAME USELESS STAFF from 2 or 3 sellers who got like 10 sales a month and a lifetime of 2k? With negative reviews?
I got like 15.000 positive reviews, no negative ones and im not showing as Relevant? I been selling in the same market for 4 YEARS NON STOP, but im not relevant?
People log in the app, see whats recent and browse shops, if they need anything specific they search for it or use the cheapest filter. It is clear by the numbers, and showing what you currently show IS NOT HELPING ANYONE, not the buyers, not the sellers and not even Gameflip.
Sales are going down for everyone, theres a lot of complains here, on Reddit, and on chats with other sellers. This is a big slap on the face of all the people that pay subscriptions and get sales to earn some money, sales that makes Gameflup earn money too.
You need to fix this, Most Recent its what it best and what made this app what its currently today, we the sellers helped to it just to get now this big slap in the face.
And im sorry but whoever is saying that this new system is not ruining their sales, thats a pretty big lie
And unfortunately everything is even more ruined now. even though you have shared many new listings in the last few hours, listings shared 4-5 hours ago are shown on your profile. for example, I have published 40 listings in the last hour. but the last listed items on my profile are 5 hours ago. I checked all the sellersâ profiles. everyoneâs page is the same. when you want to see the listings on your profile as sold, listings sold almost 1 year ago are shown⌠@DunnBiscuit
Hello. Let me reply to your replies to my points.
For both one and two, I donât see that weâre not discussing the changes because weâve been literally explaining how they are destroying our businesses for three weeks now, and we still havenât seen a single adjustment to your new changes. So, to me, your changes seem to be final.
For number three, as tidesmoke mentioned above my current comment. If you ever looked at any of the Roblox items listings for most sellers, you will see that theyâre selling the same item (gems and etc) but different quantities in different listings because we never had the option to select the quantities we have/can sell and the price for them based on a rate in a single listing.
For number four, Iâm aware that the summer vacation ended recently but letâs be realistic, please. Did Summer Vacation end on the same exact day you made changes to your platform? Because thatâs when I started to notice the effect of your changes on my sales. Also as I said in my previous comment my sales went down from 90 - 100 daily to 1 - 10 daily and Iâm so sure that this very aggressive sales drop of mine is not only because summer vacation ended but because of your changes.
Hi @here. Iâd like to inform that, as posted on Adapting to Growth: Gameflipâs Updates for a Better Marketplace - #2 by op_JOkEr, we have updated the criteria for keyword search results. This is an improvement based on your feedback and our analysis. We will continue to invest on the improvement of the marketplace performance and the user experience. Thanks for being part of our community!
