dumb question, i bought from a seller who was selling nintendo games at a much cheaper price than their msrp and...

what is to celebrate? u get banned on you nintendo account because of a chargeback you cant control, that is a instant permanent ban, you cant download anymore or access ur other games you purchased legally, I think some may not understand the severity of the issue, the only way this should be fought is going through legal measures against the seller, for selling fraudulent game codes, in these kind of cases, gameflip should provide to those affected, all personal information of the seller needed by law for affected buyer take legal measures against the person.the

In terms of Gameflip, they cancelled the orders and refunded the payment. In terms of Nintendo, I called and explained the situation. They said they would look into it and that they would ā€œreach back out to me,ā€ (which is always a blatant lie). Right now, my Nintendo account is still banned, and I donā€™t expect that to change for at least a week, if not more. I asked if they could just remove those two games from my profile so that I am no longer banned, but it is never easy with them.

hmmm i still have less than 24 hours to hold and dispute my transaction for the 3 day period. What should I do? I have redeemed the code and it worked but im expecting it to be revoked on the 4th day. I will probably dispute before the timer hits 0.

If code is working and you got what you paid for then there is no reason to open a dispute. Complete the transaction and if your game code gets revoked contact Gameflip support for a refund.

i mean isnt it quite apparent that the seller is just waiting for the 3 day time period to pass then chargeback? not sure if completing it is a good idea. id like some gameflip staff advice to know for sure

I have been refunded by Gameflip! Great support from gameflip. I am now awaiting my nintendo account ban and I will call them again. I called them today but the rep claimed that revoked codes do not result in bans but I am not sure if he knows what actually happens in these scenarios. Based on other reports, a nintendo account ban usually follows which can be removed by contacting nintendo.

That service rep has no idea what he is talking about. Revoked codes will absolutely result in bans.

I, too, am experiencing the ban from two games I bought (12/8 &9) from ā€œNintendoshopā€. Iā€™ll reach out to Nintendo tomorrow and see what I can do about getting the ban lifted.

Thank you for the information I will submit a ticket Iā€™m worried about buying keys from this or any other reselling platform Iā€™ve used the account for year or two and never had a problem. Live and learn I guess

A small update on my part, I finally got through to a supervisor at Nintendo and sheā€™s gonna try to see about getting me unbanned, said to expect an email in 2-3 days. Not feeling great about THAT end, but Gameflip did almost immediately give me a refund even though I had completed it and said good feedback as soon as I redeemed the code. So thanks for that team!

If its your first time for a chargeback, they(nintendo) will ask you evidence of purchase, seller and website, with good chance of getting unban for the first time, if it happens again, it is a permanant ban, what does this meant for buyers, sellers and gameflip?

Buyers who been affected by this seller and it was their first time, as long you contact nintendo customer support , provide evidence and wait a few days, they will un ban you in the majority of the cases(depending the customer support but most are professionals). For those that have happened before and happened again on same account, pretty sure it will be permanent ban

for sellers who incurs in this practices, this should be a warning to not sell anything that can be charged back or charged it back to scam buyers. Do remember that buyers may loose more than their money, some user may have invested a lot on their accounts to risk to loose it because of you. And you may risk for legal proceedings that may apply, and for this matter

To gameflip, this is making your buyers feel scared to purchase codes, sellers like that, should be prosecuted by law, especially since his a verified person and also buyers been scammed like this, which may risk to loose more than what they pay, should be given sellers information if buyer will legally prosecute the individual or group that scammed. I believe this will impact sales, maybe more than what may have affected by not having paypal anymore. As a customer who sees potential on the marketing of the website, please take this for serious consideration.

Same thing happened to me. It all worked till this morning when I was trying to log in on My Nintendo to check something. I found it odd, but didnā€™t think too much of it yet because I had to head to work. At work I checked the forum and I came across several of these topics and all of course describing and even mentioning the seller that I had also bought from, Nintendoshop. Then it all started to make sense. As soon as I got back home I turned on my switch and tried everything and indeed my account was suspended and it is because of BOTW that I purchased from this seller. Also got Astral Chain but according to Nintendo that one didnā€™t receive a chargeback (yet!). Which I can confirm because of it is still working. Anyway I immediately called the customer service, then soon after it got escalated to a supervisor. He sent me an email which I have to respond with all the information about the purchase and it will take 3 business days to process. They did say that if my account get unsuspended it will be a perma ban if it would happen again. I learned my lesson, and despite having plenty of good experiences on Gameflip, Iā€™m too scared now to risk the account with game codes anymore.

Please gameflip letā€™s denounce the scammer I agree with you Wolfy zero , Please guys @DunnBiscuit @DarkKnight @MajorTom proceed with legal procedures to avoid this, if so Sellers will know this is a serious website

Just a small update here. Iā€™m still not banned but I did contact Nintendo support earlier today and told them about my situation. The first guy basically said that they canā€™t make any promises that I wonā€™t get banned since the site I used isnā€™t an authorized seller and then put me in-call to a second guy. The second guy told me that since I reached out preemptively that they may not ban my account if the credit card manages to issue a chargeback if I could provide proof of purchase. Then he sent me an email with instructions. I actually think Iā€™m in the clearā€¦ I provided as much proof as I could in the email and Iā€™m waiting to see if they reply back.

Anyways hereā€™s hoping everyone here can sort out their issues.

Hi can I ask some related question here guys, Iā€™m new to Nintendo switch games.
I bought a ā€œDigital gameā€ from an online seller and later he gave me a username and password for their account and asked me to link the game with my account. Is this a legal way of purchasing a game? Technically is the game mine or his account? If his account is banned what happens to my game?

am unsure of what will happen to your game if his account is banned but this is 100% not the correct way to sell a game and against the rules, I would advise you to open a ticket and report it and possibly attach the order number here

If they give you a username and password, it is likely that they will try to login after the purchase is completed. Hence, it is prohibited.
