New buyers are unaware that sellers will message them through the listing and messages are always missed.

Buyer already receives a PUSH notification (if enabled) when the seller sends a message. Email is far less reliable, and many probably don’t even verify their email address.
If the buyer doesn’t opt in or check their purchase to respond, they probably don’t care about their purchase 
That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have an email that gets sent to us also. There are many people who rely more on emails being sent than texts being sent. Any messages from Gameflip that are sent via text should also be sent via email. There’s no reason not to.
